OUR INITIATIVES
GLOW
We are building a statewide network of girl-serving organizations dedicated to raising empowered girls.
WHY IT MATTERS
When girls are encouraged to lead, they grow up to be a force for positive change. Studies show that girls who participate in girl-focused leadership development programs are better equipped to achieve their career and altruistic ambitions.
For many girls in Washington, however, there are no opportunities to participate in girl-focused leadership programs. There are fewer than 50 girl-focused leadership programs in our state, and the majority are in Seattle-King County. Many of these girl-serving organizations lack resources, training, and support to offer quality programs.
OUR APPROACH
To support girls in becoming confident leaders, we are working with 14 girl-serving organizations to develop a statewide network of high-quality leadership development programs. Together, we are focusing on three key areas to ensure girl-serving organizations have the tools and support they need to set girls up for success. These include:
- Quality Training & Program Assessment
- Executive Leadership Development
- Capacity Building Investments
The GLOW (Girls’ Leadership Organizations of Washington) network is ensuring Washington’s girl-serving organizations reach more girls with quality programming than ever before.
