2006 Achievements & Highlights
Hosted a one-day Social Change Retreat by gathering leaders from regional organizations serving women and girls and examining what it takes to affect and measure social change. Outcomes of this retreat were used to help WFA define its social change granting criteria and be responsive to the realities and needs of the organizations we fund.
Expanded WFA's Workplace Partnership reach by teaming up with King County Libraries, Peterson Sullivan PLLC and Stokes Lawrence, P.S. Funds raised through workplace giving campaigns from employees provide crucial operating revenue for WFA's 21 member agencies.
Reached some significant Advancement Campaign goals. This includes implementing the qualitative and quantitative research for A Closer Look study. WFA also increased organizational capacity by professionalizing and expanding our staff and by investing in a new database to track donations and grants.
Celebrated executive director LeAnne Moss' tenth year leading WFA. She was also chosen as one of 20 women to receive the Puget Sound Business Journal's Women of Influence Award. PSBJ describes the women who receive this award as deserving businesswomen who use their authority and power for the good of their company, its employees, the community and other women striving to sit behind their desk someday.
Broke WFA's previous granting records by awarding over $450,000 in grant funding to non-profits serving women and girls. We also quadrupled the number of Making Change Grants we awarded. These grants focus on projects that significantly impact social change and social justice for women and girls.
